Farmers in many parts of Haryana say they will not allow the ruling BJP events and its leaders to protest farm rules
More than a thousand farmers - chanting slogans and waving flags in protest of farm disputes - rallied outside the residence of Haryana Prime Minister ML Khattar in Karnal on Saturday morning and announced their intention to guard the vigil overnight.
Views from the area show farmers standing on stacks of yellow blocks and screaming in anger, while a handful of security personnel are armed with violent weapons.
Farmers have been briefed by police - with protesters fighting the farm law several times this week - and planted in large numbers, with tear gas vehicles in the area.
A look at the fats of the water used shows the powerful water jet fired at the protesters, some of whom are trying to get into their cars to escape.
Farmers are also protesting at grain markets in certain parts of the state, and outside the residences of members of Parliament of the ruling BJP-Jannayak Janata Party in several constituencies.
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait yesterday warned of protests, including in the provincial capital of Punjab, that they had pressured the center to start buying paddy on time.
This is after the center postponed the purchase of kharif, or monsoon, paddy from Punjab and Haryana until October 11. It said crop ripening was delayed due to recent rains.
Even yesterday, farmers and police in the government once again clashed as protesters marched to protest the event attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dushyant Chautala in Jhajjar.
Water cannons were fired to stop them, but the spectacular view shows the masses of men and women fighting as they endured torrents of water and crossed barriers.
Massive protests erupted in Karnal last month and after police said they had accused farmers of trying to prevent a BJP leader from attending a party event. Ten people were injured in the fighting.
There was also a shocking video showing IAS official Ayush Sinha asking the police to "cut off farmers' heads"; The Prime Minister was later seen defending Mr Sinha (those farmers who said he should be punished), saying he needed to take drastic action. Since he was sent on leave.
Farmers in many parts of Haryana have stressed that they will not allow events for the ruling party and its leaders and have repeatedly blocked major roads as part of their protests.
The state has referred the issue of roadblocks to the Supreme Court.

That was the second day in a row that Haryana had seen a clash between farmers and police.
A riot broke out in Karnal on Thursday during an event organized by the ruling BJP.
Massive protests erupted in Karnal last month and after police said they had blamed farmers for trying to prevent the BJP leader from reaching the party.

Farmers across the country have been protesting against farm rules for more than a year now. Thousands regularly camp on the Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-UP borders, determined not to retreat until the institution clears the rules and assures them that the MSP program will continue.
The institute said it would not recall the rules, but said it was open to consensus.
