AIMIM Will Contest 2022 Gujarat Assembly Polls, Says Asaduddin Owaisi
Ahmedabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will challenge the 2022 Assembly election in Gujarat and the party has as of now began arrangements for the surveys, its leader Asaduddin Owaisi said on Monday.
He said the AIMIM state unit will settle the number of seats to be elected in Gujarat, which has had bipolar governmental issues for quite a long time with Congress and the BJP as fundamental competitors for power.
Conversing with correspondents during his visit to Ahmedabad, Mr. Owaisi said the Hyderabad-settled party will challenge the election energetically and make sure that its competitors enter the 182-part Assembly in Gujarat, being governed by the BJP for over twenty years now.
"We will challenge the 2022 Assembly election in Gujarat energetically and it will be our work to see that individuals from the AIMIM come to the Assembly," the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad said.
He said one of the reasons for his Ahmedabad visit is to examine the party's Gujarat unit arrangements for the surveys.
"One reason behind my visit to Ahmedabad is to thank individuals for supporting our up-and-comers in the last (neighborhood body) election. I'm here to meet party corporators who won the neighborhood body races (held early this year) and associate with them.
"Another reason for (the visit) is to audit the arrangements for the impending (Assembly) races," the AIMIM pioneer said, adding he will visit Gujarat again to consider survey arrangements.
"Our state president (Sabir Kabliwala) and the Gujarat group will settle on the number of seats we will challenge the decisions. We are sure of getting great help," he said.
The AIMIM state unit has recognized a few Assembly seats and work was on to fortify the party in those voting public, Owaisi said without revealing any number.
"We will likewise challenge on Hindu-larger part situates as we need to get votes of all (and not simply Muslims)," he said.
During his visit, Mr Owaisi met Ahmedabad Congress corporator Shehzad Khan, and said he did as such as the last buckled down during challenges Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
