Two women officers who joined the Indo-Tibetan Border Police on Sunday were involved in combat roles on Sunday. The names of both women officers are Prakriti and Diksha. Prakriti is an electrical engineer and Diksha's father is an inspector in the Border Guard Force.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commandant Diksha said, "My father is a role model for me. He has always encouraged me. After passing the UPSC exams, both the women officers have undergone training at the ITBP Academy in Mussoorie. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was the chief guest during the passing out parade.
A total of 53 officers from ITBP Academy, Mussoorie have passed after the passing out parade. Out of the total 53 officers, 42 are in the general duty combat cadre, while 11 officers are in the engineering cadre of the strong Mountain Warfare Training Force of about 90,000 personnel. These officers will now be deployed in all ITBP units in the country, including LAC with China and anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.
ITBP started recruiting women combat officers in its cadre in 2016 through the All India Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission UPSC. Earlier she used to recruit women in constable ranks.

Addressing young officers trained for 50 weeks general duty cadre and 11 weeks engineering cadre in various branches of warfare and strategy, Dhami said commanders should perform their best while performing their duties. He said the country is safe because of the bravery of its armed forces and the sacrifices of its soldiers.
