Voting for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and three other municipalities took place on Sunday. In addition, voting votes for 104 seats of various local organizations were also held on the same day.

In the 2016 Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections, Congress and BJP won 16 seats out of every 32 seats available at the time.
Both teams had an equal chance of making the board by playing evenly. At the last minute, however, Congress rivals Pravin Patel changed sides and helped the BJP dominate this public body.
