IAF begins rehearsals at first airstrip on NH near Rajasthan's Barmer, 40 km from India-Pakistan border


Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday initiated an Emergency Landing Field (ELF) on National Highway-925 at Gandhav Bhakasar Section at Barmer, in Rajasthan.

NHAI had fostered the 3-Km segment of the Satta-Gandhav stretch of NH-925A as an Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) for the Indian Air Force, which is important for the recently evolved two-path cleared shoulder of Gagariya-Bakhasar and Satta-Gandhav segment having an all-out length of 196.97 Km and Costing Rs 765.52 Crores under Bharatmala Pariyojana.

This undertaking will further develop availability between towns of Barmer and Jalore regions situated on the global boundaries.
