Gujrat : A total of 136 roads, including 15 state highways, were closed due to flooding in the next four days.


The meteorological department has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next four days. Saurashtra and Kutch, including North and South Gujarat, are likely to receive heavy rains. Rajkot city and district has been receiving continuous rains since last night. It has been raining in 212 talukas of the state in the last 24 hours. 

The rains have closed 136 roads in the state, including 15 state highways, for vehicular traffic. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours in the state has been recorded in Jamnagar, Valsad, Rajkot and Dwarka. Besides, torrential rains have lashed 71 talukas in the last two hours, i.e. from 10 am to 12 noon today. The highest rainfall of 180 mm was recorded in Visavadar of Junagadh and 136 mm in Lodhika of Rajkot.

The state has received 64.44 per cent rainfall so far this season 

Meghmaher has been happening in the state for the last two days. So far 64.44 per cent of the season has received rain. In terms of zone, Kutch received 66.13 per cent, North Gujarat 54.45 per cent, Central Gujarat 55.92 per cent and Saurashtra 68.74 per cent rainfall. South Gujarat received the highest rainfall of 64.44 per cent. The rains in the state have brought in new water. Which has brought happiness to the farmers. Farmers' standing crops have survived the rains. 

7 inches in Dhoraji and 5 inches in Gondal 

Dhoraji received 7 inches and Gondal received 5 inches of rain. Among them, underbridge swimming pools have been built in Gondal, Umwala bridge and Ashapura bridge were flooded. District Education Officer BS Kaila has decided to close all the schools in the district due to heavy rains in the entire district. Fortunately, good rain is forecast by the meteorological department today. People are also getting relief from heat and hot weather due to good rains.


 

Rain with thunder in Rajkot 

It has been raining with thunder in Rajkot city since 11 pm last night. As a result, four gates of Aji 2 dam in Rajkot have been opened 1.5 feet. Citizens of Adbalka, Baghi, Dahinsarda, Dungarka, Gadha, Haripar, Khandheri, Naranka, Ukarda and Sakhpar villages in the lower reaches of the dam have also been instructed not to move in the river bed and to be careful. Currently the reservoir has a full surface of 7.76 meters and the dam has received 4492 cusecs of water.

Instructions to NDRF-SDRF teams to remain alert 

Teams from NDRF and SDRF have also been instructed to remain alert following the possibility of two days of heavy rains. An IMD official said heavy rains are expected across the state in the next two days, including Junagadh, Gir-Somnath and Amreli districts of Saurashtra, Vadodara, Kheda in central Gujarat and Bharuch and Valsad districts in south Gujarat. Teams from NDRF and SDRF have been instructed to remain alert in these districts as a precautionary measure.
