NASA has reiterated the warnings of many cities drowning in the sea, citing a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The American space agency NASA has created the Sea Level Projection Tool. So that the lives and property of the people can be protected in time from the disaster that befalls the coast. Through this online tool, one can know the future disaster situation i.e. sea level rising. This instrument can measure the sea level of all the countries of the world, which have beaches.
NASA has reiterated the warnings of many cities drowning in the sea, citing a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The sixth assessment report of the IPCC was released on August 9, which better defines the climate system and the conditions of climate change. The IPCC has been assessing climate change globally since 1988. The IPCC reports environmental conditions around the world every 5 to 7 years. This time the report is dangerous.
Destruction will occur in coastal areas
The report says that by the year 2100, global temperatures will rise significantly. People will have to face severe heat in the future. Temperatures will rise by an average of 4.4 degrees Celsius if carbon emissions and pollution are not stopped. Temperatures will rise by 1.5 degrees Celsius over the next two decades. When the mercury rises this fast, glaciers will also melt. Whose waters will bring destruction to the plains and coastal areas?
12 Indian cities to sink
According to the report, after about 80 years i.e. by the year 2100, 12 coastal cities of India will be submerged in about 3 feet of water due to rising sea levels. That is, the coastal area of Okha, Mormugao, Kandla, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Mangalore, Chennai, Tuticorin, and Kochi, Paradip will become smaller. In such a situation, people living in coastal areas will have to move to safer places in the future. Seaboards area of West Bengal where there was no threat of sea-level rise till last year. There will also be half a foot of water rising by the year 2100.
The area of many countries will decrease
NASA administrator Bill Nelson said the sea surface projection tool is enough to tell world leaders and scientists that many of our countries will reduce the land area by the next century. Because the sea level will rise so fast that it will be difficult to handle, otherwise the examples are in front of everyone. Many islands have been submerged, many more islands will be swallowed up by the sea in its waves.
This effect will be due to the increase in global temperature
Its profound impact can be seen on the Asian continent, including India. Frequent eruptions of glacial lakes in the Himalayan region have caused many other adverse effects besides flooding the low-lying coastal areas. The average annual rainfall in the country will increase in the next few decades. Heavy rainfall is expected every year, especially in the southern areas.
The opinion of environmental experts
Commenting on the report, environmentalist Pankaj Sir said, "The changes we saw 100 years ago are now happening between the ages of 10 and 20. Global warming will have a profound effect on the entire world, including India. The report makes it clear that its losses cannot be offset.
