According to the official, Cyrus Mistry was driving a Mercedes from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
According to authorities, Cyrus Mistry, who followed Ratan Tata as chairman of Tata Sons before being removed in India's most publicised boardroom coup, died on Sunday in an automobile accident in Palghar, Maharashtra. He was 54.
According to the statement, Mr. Mistry was driving a Mercedes from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
The wrecked remains of the silver Mercedes were visible in photos taken at the scene of the crash. A road barrier caused the car to crash in the Charoti neighbourhood of Palghar, 135 kilometres from Mumbai.
"Around 3.15 pm, Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when the tragedy happened. The Surya river bridge was the site of the disaster. It appears to be a mishap, "Balasaheb Patil, the district police chief for Palghar, stated.
Jehangir Pandole, Anahita Pandole, and Darius Pandole were in the automobile with Mr. Mistry.
The other victim of the accident was Jehangir Pandole, a relative of Darius Pandole.
Independent director for Tata Group companies Darius Pandole had opposed Mr. Mistry's ouster as chairman of the business. Along with Mr. Mistry, he also quit the Tata group.
Anahita's husband is Darius. The driver of the vehicle was Mumbai's well-known gynaecologist, Anahita Pandole.
After the accident, Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were sent to a private hospital in Vapi, Gujarat.
The police official stated on Sunday night that "they are expected to be transferred to a Mumbai hospital on Monday morning."
According to a police officer who spoke to news agency PTI, the car was rushing and attempted to pass another vehicle from the incorrect side (the left).
Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, announced that he had requested that a thorough investigation into the tragedy be carried out by the state police.
As the state's home minister and spokesperson, Mr. Fadnavis tweeted, "Spoke to DGP and instructed for detailed investigations."
This is the most recent setback for the Mistry family, whose patriarch and Cyrus's father, Pallonji Mistry, passed away in June at the age of 93. Their empire constructed opulent hotels, stadiums, palaces, and factories throughout Asia, but in recent years, it has gained notoriety due to a business dispute with the Tata Group.
The nation was led in grieving the passing of the business mogul by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who described it as a "huge loss" to the economic and industrial worlds.
"It's shocking that Shri Cyrus Mistry passed away so quickly. He was a bright businessman who had faith in India's ability to prosper economically. The business and industrial worlds have suffered greatly since his demise. We send our sympathies to his family and friends. May he find peace with his soul "Premier Modi tweeted.
