Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jai Shah has said that former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was selected as a mentor with the Indian team in the T20 World Cup, will not take any charge from the board. Shah told ANI that MS Dhoni was not charging any fee for his services as the mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.
Dhoni will be seen in the role of mentor
The T20 World Cup kicks off on October 17 in Oman and the UAE. Dhoni has been added to the Indian team selected as a mentor for the tournament. They will be seen encouraging players from the dressing room. The appointment of MS Dhoni as a mentor for a tournament like the World Cup is considered a very positive aspect for Indian cricket. It may be mentioned that Dhoni retired on August 15, 2020.
India cannot win the final
India made it to the finals of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, the semi-finals of the 2019 One-Day World Cup and the final of this year's World Test Championship. However, in each of the knockout matches the team suffered a defeat. This time, Dhoni's experience could come in handy for the team and captain Kohli in important matches like knockouts.
