MS Dhoni named in 15-member defence ministry panel on NCC

This month is proving to be very good for former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He was earlier appointed as Team India's mentor for the T20 World Cup and has now been included in the committee formed to redesign the National Cadet Corps (NCC). A high-level committee comprising former Indian cricket captain Dhoni has been constituted by the Ministry of Defense to make the National Cadet Corps more relevant and comprehensively reviewed.

The defense ministry said the committee was headed by former MP Baijayant Panda. Dhoni has also been associated with the Indian Army in the past and holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. A 15-member committee has been constituted by the ministry, which also includes Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra.

Earlier on September 8, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Team India for the T20 World Cup, the board selected former captain Dhoni as a mentor in the team. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will now be seen in the role of Team India's mentor in the T20 World Cup. Announcing the squad for next month's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman starting October 17, BCCI secretary Jai Shah said, "Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will join the team as a mentor for the T20 World Cup. Former captain Dhoni retired from international cricket last year. He last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semifinals.
